The core loop

Start small, grow steadily, and protect what you build

Starlorn is not built around a single end screen. The goal is to expand your reach, manage risk, and build assets that matter in a shared universe.

  • Begin in the Training Grounds, the protected starter dimension where new captains learn the fundamentals.
  • Use ports, assignments, and devices to build credits, mobility, and survivability.
  • Move into open space, claim assets, and become a captain other players have to account for.
The setting

A shared universe shaped by pressure and competition

You begin in protected space, but the larger universe introduces rival players, machine threats, and meaningful losses. Progress comes from good decisions, not safety.

The loop in plain language

Here is the game loop in straightforward terms.

1. Learn the basics

Start in the Training Grounds, work through the early assignments, expand your hold space, and pick up your first useful device.

2. Trade and explore

Run ports, read supply and demand, discover reliable routes, and turn market knowledge into credits and momentum.

3. Deploy and defend

Use drones and mines to hold sectors, clear threats, and respond to machine pressure or rival players.

4. Build lasting power

Claim planets, extend your reach, and grow into a captain whose decisions affect the wider map.
